Cappuccino Child Safety Standards

1. Who these standards apply to

These Child Safety Standards (the “Standards”) apply to the Cappuccino mobile application (Android package fm.cappuccino on Google Play, and the iOS app on the App Store), the website capp.fm, and any related service operated by Sociaaal LLC (“Sociaaal”, “we”, “us”). They supplement our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Where these Standards are stricter than the Terms of Use, these Standards prevail.

Cappuccino lets friends record short audio messages (“beans”) that are mixed into a private daily audio show for the members of a group. The service is designed for adults and older teens: no one under 13 years of age may create an account or use Cappuccino, and in the European Union users must be at least 16. We remove accounts that we learn belong to underage users.

2. What we prohibit

The following conduct and content is strictly forbidden on Cappuccino, whether it involves real minors, apparent minors, or fictional, synthetic, or AI-generated depictions of minors:

• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM): any audio, image, video, text, or other content that depicts or describes sexually explicit conduct involving a minor, including recordings of a sexual nature made by or with a minor, and any content that sexualizes a minor.
• Sexualization of minors: content that presents a minor in a sexual manner, sexual commentary about a minor, or sexual role-play involving a minor.
• Grooming: befriending, building trust with, or manipulating a minor in order to facilitate sexual contact, sexual conversation, or the exchange of sexual content, online or offline.
• Sextortion: threatening or coercing a minor to obtain sexual content, money, or any other benefit.
• Inappropriate interaction with a minor: sexual advances, sexual requests, or any sexualized communication directed at a minor.
• Trafficking or abuse: advertising, arranging, or facilitating the sexual exploitation, trafficking, or abuse of a minor.
• Facilitation: sharing links, instructions, code words, or any material that promotes, normalizes, or enables any of the above, on Cappuccino or on other platforms.

Attempting to do any of the above, or helping someone else do it, is treated the same as doing it.

3. How to report a concern

If you see or hear anything on Cappuccino that you believe involves the sexual abuse or exploitation of a child, please report it immediately. You do not need to be certain; we would rather review a report that turns out to be unfounded than miss a real one.

In the app

Open the recording, choose “Report abusive content” (or “Report this bean”), and tell us why. The reported recording is hidden from every listener immediately and is queued for review by our moderation team. Group administrators can also permanently ban a member from their group, and any member can leave a group at any time.

Write to contact@sociaaal.com with the subject line “Child safety report”. Include the username or group involved and any details that can help us act quickly. Parents, guardians, educators, and law enforcement are welcome to use this address; you do not need a Cappuccino account to report.

Outside Cappuccino

If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. You can also report directly to the NCMEC CyberTipline (United States) or to your national hotline through INHOPE.

4. How we respond

Child safety reports are prioritized over every other kind of report. When we receive one, or otherwise obtain actual knowledge of prohibited content or conduct, we:

• Remove the content from the service so it can no longer be played, downloaded, or shared, and preserve the associated data as required for reporting and investigation.
• Terminate the accounts responsible, without prior notice, and take reasonable steps to prevent the same person from creating new accounts. There is no appeal for confirmed CSAE violations.
• Report confirmed CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), as required of United States providers under 18 U.S.C. § 2258A, and to any other competent law enforcement or regulatory authority.
• Cooperate with law enforcement investigations and lawful requests, including the preservation and disclosure of account information in accordance with applicable law and our Privacy Policy.

We never notify a reported user of who reported them.

5. Compliance with child safety laws

Sociaaal LLC complies with applicable child safety laws and regulations in the jurisdictions where Cappuccino is offered, including United States federal law on the reporting of child sexual abuse material (18 U.S.C. §§ 2258A–2258E), the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU Digital Services Act, and the Google Play Developer Program Policies, including the Child Safety Standards policy. We review these Standards at least once a year and whenever the law or our product changes materially.

6. Child safety point of contact

Sociaaal LLC has designated a child safety point of contact who is responsible for these Standards, for our CSAM prevention practices, and for responding to notifications from Google Play, other platforms, hotlines, and law enforcement. This person can be reached at:

Law enforcement agencies may use the same address for legal process and emergency disclosure requests.

7. Changes to these Standards

We may update these Standards from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page shows when they were last changed. Continued use of Cappuccino after an update means you accept the updated Standards.
